The first seconds of life
Pictures showing newborns taken by the photographer named Christian Berthelot just a few seconds after being delivered by caesarean section, may get you shocked and even disgust some people, but that's a fact of life. That is the way we meet this world!
Christian Berthelot first saw the child delivery when his son wsa born. His wife had a cesarean section to make their kid survive.
"When I saw my son for the first time, he was bloodied and covered in this white substance called vernix," - says Berthelot. - "He looked like a warrior who has just won his first battle or an angel that has just escaped from the darkness."
From this point of view, the author offers us to have a look at these photos, which then take a deep and beautiful meaning.
A week after giving delivery Christian decided to make this photo project. By the support of Jean-François Morevnall, a doctor at the hospital where his son was born, the photographer began to get ready for the shooting in the operation room.
Only after a six-month training with the surgeons, he began to look for mothers who would have agreed to a photo shooting during the delivery.
All mothers who participated in the project have received unique photos of their children when they were just born. So far, Christian Berthelot captured 40 children after being delivered to this world.
