How to install the icons
How to install icons for desktop on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7?
All icons that are found in this section have got .png extension, and in order to set an icon you have just downloaded on a folder or shortcut you must use .ico extension. In order to convert the file into the format you need, Aveiconifier tool should be downloaded. There you will also find a description of how to use it. Once you have done with conversion you are free to set icon at any part you need.
Let us put some more light on this.
There are many ways to implement the installation of the icons in the folder; however, I will share only two of them with you.
1. Manually (using standard Windows tools).
2. By means of IconPhile program.
3. By using IconTo tool (Recommended).
1) Let us consider the first method:
Let’s take any shortcut. Right-click on it -> go to properties -> click on "shortcut" tab -> change Icon and select your icon in .ico format
If you want to change the icon for a folder, you should do the following: Right-click -> go to Properties -> click on "Settings" -> change Icon, and again choose your icon in .ico format
If you want to change the icon to shortcuts like "My Computer, Recycle Bin, etc", try to do this:
If you use Windows XP:
Right-click on an empty area on your desktop -> go to properties -> click "Desktop" tab -> click on "Customize Desktop", then select the icon and click on Change Icon, and again choose your icon in .ico format.
For Windows 7:
Right-click on an empty area on your desktop -> go to Personalization -> click on "change desktop icons" in the left upper part -> then select the icon and click on Change Icon, and again select the file with the icon / icons.
2) The second method is much easier:
The program is designed for the mass icon replacement, i.e. if for instance, you want to change the icon for all mp3 files; all you need to do is download the IconPhile program, and install it by double-clicking on the mp3 icon in the program, choose your favorite icon for it. It does not make any difficulties, is it?
3) The third method is the same as the previous one, but it has got more features:
The program is designed for the mass replacement of icons just like with the second method, except the fact that here you will have to use IconTo program. As you can see, setting the icons is that simple.
