Elinchrom Unveils The ELB 500 TTL
Elinchrom has launched a new strobe light–the ELB 500 TTL. The company claims it is the world’s most powerful portable TTL light ever designed. The light provides 500Ws of power from a power pack.The whole set comprises of a 2.48kg power pack with removable battery, along with one or two light heads. The high speed sync allows the shortest shutter speeds of1/8000sec. The ELB 500 TTL has the shortest flash duration of 1/20,000sec. It features a manual lock function, in-built Skyport and Odin ll radio receivers, and a large OLED display. The lithium ion battery possesses a capacity of 72W/h, and can deliver 400 flash bursts at full power. Active Charging allows the battery to charge in or out of the pack, and it can be charged while being used.
Smithsonian Magazine’s Photo Contest Finalists Announced
The Smithsonian magazine has revealed 60 fi nalists for their 15th annual photo contest. This year, 48,000 entries were sent in from155 countries, amongst which fi ve Indian photographers have been shortlisted. Vikas Datta was selected for his landscape image in the Natural World category; Debashish Mukherjee for capturing a boatman reading a newspaper; Yusuf Chiniwala’s image of Yaks at Pangong lake in the Travel category; Swaroop Singha Roy’s image of a deer stag in the forest in the Altered Images category, and Sirsendu Gayen’s photograph of Gangasagar Mela in the Mobile category.
1 + 1 = 1 Million – Vito Schnabel Gallery, St. Moritz
From February 15 to March 11, 2018, Vito Schnabel Gallery presented 1 + 1 = 1 Million, an exhibition curated by artist Tom Sachs to spotlight American conceptual artist Sol LeWitt’s significant works. Through a largescale wall drawing from 1978 and 19 luminous framed works on paper beginning from the 1970s, Sachs drew visitors into LeWitt’s careerlong exploration of authorship and the means by which it can be defined. The exhibition focused on three of the thirty-five statements from LeWitt’s 1969 Sentences on Conceptual Art, highlighting the ineffably poetic outcome of pursuing these ideas to their logical extreme.
Fujifi lm Launches the X-H1, its Latest Hybrid Flagship
The Fujifi lm X-H1 is the newest edition to the company’s popular X-series line-up. It features a 24MP X Trans sensor that is identical to the X-T2. It features 5-axis in-body image stabilisation (rated at 5EV), a 3.69M-dot OLED viewfi nder, a 3-inch touch sensitive rear LCD with two-axis tilt, and an ISO range of 200-12,800 (can be extended to 100-51,200). Regardless of the similar sensor and processor, Fujifi lm claims the camera displays enhanced video performance, and a better AF system, which can focus in low light conditions and with smaller apertures. X-H1 is the fi rst camera in the X-series to include the ETERNA fi lm simulation mode for shooting movies. It can shoot UHD 4K at up to 30p, DCI 4K capture at 23.97p and 24p, and can record F-Log footage internally. The enhanced compression option allows one to record video at up to 200 Mbps. Fujifi lm has also introduced a Movie Silent Control mode, that allows to switch between video and photography.
