Museo Camera Needs To Raise Rs. 1.5 Crore
Museo Camera is India’s first vintage camera museum located at India Photo Archive’s headquarters in Gurugram. It showcases antique analogue cameras, and other photographic equipment dating back to the 19th century. The collection is owned and curated by photographer and visual historian, Aditya Arya. The government of Haryana, through the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has decided to build an 18,000 sq. ft. museum to exhibit Arya’s vast collection. They have leased 0.75 acres land in Chakkarpur, Gurugram. Museo Camera: A Centre for the Photographic Arts will have exhibition spaces for 200 visitors, along with scientifically controlled environments for the preservation of artifacts, equipment, negatives, and others. However, the museum needs to raise Rs. 1.5 crore, through contributions. Arya aims to make Museo Camera India’s first crowd funded museum. I wish to let you fall out of my hands – Experimenter, Kolkata
On January 30, 2018, Experimenter in Gariahat, Kolkata, opened I wish to let you fall out of my hands (Chapter I), showcasing works created by artists Bani Abidi and Naeem Mohaiemen. The exhibition marked the first chapter in a two-chapter exhibition, the second of which inaugurated Experimenter’s second space at Ballygunge Place, Kolkata, on February 21, 2018. The works on view at the exhibitions used film and photography to explore the complexity of human relationships and the spaces they occupy – whether transitory, aspirational, imaginary or reclaimed. The twopart exhibition also included a series of lecture performances, workshops and discussions.
BenQ Launches Two New Monitors
BenQ has launched two new monitors in its popular line of SW and E series. The SW240 is a 24.1-inch monitor supported by AQ colour technology, especially designed for photographers. It features a 99% Adobe RGB and 100% sRGB colour gamut, and a 14-bit 3D LUT. SW240 has 16:10 ratio, a10-bit color display, Delta E ≤ 2, and hardware calibration. It also has two modes: Advanced Black and White Mode, and Color Mode HotKey. BenQ’s EW277HDR is a 27-inch full HD monitor with brightness intelligence plus technology, a 3000:1 ultra-high native contrast, 93% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and a 16:9 ratio.
Vikas Sathaye Awarded the Sci-Tech Oscars 2018
Vikas Sathaye and his team won the Scientific and Engineering Academy Award, at the Oscars Scientific and Technical Awards 2018, for the concept, design, engineering and implementation of the SHOTOVER K1 camera system. It is a 6-axis stabilised aerial camera mount, that has an enhanced ability to frame shots while looking straight down. Sathaye says, “The camera mount attaches to the base of a helicopter, which carries the camera and lens. Its primary function is to eliminate vibration which affects steady footage. The secondary function of the mount is to move the camera head in the desired direction as required by the operator who sits inside the helicopter and uses a joystick to control the camera movement.” Vikas was born in Pune, 1967. He completed his diploma in instrumentation from VPM’s Polytechnic, Thane, and graduated with a BE in electronics from VIT Pune. Later, he completed his M Tech in instrumentation from IISc.
